History of Our Hotel
Located deep within the lush highlands of Mathioya in Murang’a County, Aberdare Cottages and Fishing Lodge began as a heartfelt dream (Aberdare Cottages Dream) and a vision to create a peaceful eco-retreat where nature, culture, and community converge. What started as a rustic family hideaway in the foothills of the Aberdare Ranges has grown into a beloved destination for travellers seeking immersive travel experiences, scenic landscapes, and sustainable hospitality. Every corner of the lodge carries a story, from rustic rooms inspired by local architecture to age-old trails that lead to the quiet banks of the North Mathioya River. Rooted in respect for nature and love for this land, our history is not just about buildings — it’s about people, purpose, and the quiet power of returning to simplicity.
